Proving the Torah’s Authenticity: Historical Evidence from Judges to Sinai

I have tried to break this to you as painlessly as possible. Forget about the Torah’s authenticity, and the other religious brainwashing.

Providing irrefutable evidence that you are wasting your life on frivolity is an insult so vast that I must be insane even to suggest it.

Yet, you are reading this for a reason.

You know somewhere deep down that indeed as Solomon wrote – ‘All is vanity’.

Logically, however, if all we have is vanity then it is perfectly reasonable to choose that bit of it which pleases you most – and go with it. Right?

Some routes are obviously more ‘valuable’ than others.

Fred and Sara build a health centre in Mozambique, you play hockey for your state; Jo works with challenged youth, Bob blasts his mind out as a challenged youth.

Those who have found a way of truly contributing to humanity may well feel that they have achieved an escape.  But sadly often their private lives do not reflect the full contentment that is achievable.

Why Evaluate Real Judaism?

This is why evaluating Real Judaism is so critical. As opposed to its plastic version.

If its claims can be proven then you have the ideal balance – a completely solid, logical and provable belief system and a full set of behaviours that allow for a culture and lifestyle that is, yes, disciplined – but meaningful and valuable.

Satisfying without self-satisfaction.

But, we must continue in providing the final pieces of proof.

Your last step to the foot of the mountain.

We have traveled back through history from last Wednesday to the ancient kings of Israel previously.

Now you are to walk some final steps that your DNA took.

You certainly had an ancestor who lived in Ancient Israel, ate olives grown in his family back yard and tilled the soil in the baking sun.

We are now in 1228 BCE when your great great (to the power of 125) Uncle Issi had that row with his brother Yankel about that donkey he had tied to cousin Ruby’s terebinth tree.

The Era of the Judges

We now journey through the real era of the Judges.

As we have said, they ruled ancient Israel from Joshua to the Kings for about four centuries.

It was a sort of commonwealth of thousands of small peaceful communities all devoted to the Torah and living in farming villages.

Local Jewish Rabbis and their courts decided any issues.

These were overseen by the single Judge who headed the nation.

These were a selection of great personalities – men and women – whose characters made them obvious choices as leaders.

They were charismatic and often renowned for their prophecy and appointed by Divine choice.

They led the Israelites in fighting off enemies, led them to return to the Torah and by example were figures who kept the Jews from straying.

Several famously themselves broke many injunctions of the Torah.

The Book of judges is full of very candid accounts of this.

So, OK, hands up – whom of you judges made up this Torah scam?

Own up!!

Right.

If not a king, as we have seen, then let us presume that it indeed was – a step back – the Judges – who concocted the whole Torah – around about 1225 to 880 BCE.

They wanted to hold power.

Therefore, they invented a kosher opiate for the masses – The Torah.

They wanted to make money from, as usual, kosher food and synagogue fees.

Fair enough.

Problems with the Theory

Well, I presume you have already guessed the problem with that.

If you care to look, you will see that they had the same problem as the kings.

If the Judges wrote the Torah, you might agree that it would slightly daft to include laws strictly forbidding waging war on Moabites and Ammonites.

One – you need to wage war on them.

Two – you want to wage war on them.

Three – you are going to wage war on them.

Four – you do wage war on them.

You may just open yourself to some criticism.

But some of the Judges’ main preoccupation was waging war on their neighbours.

These included two particularly nasty gangs – you guessed – the Moabites and the Ammonites.

Oops.

From the first, the Judges knew that these two nations were going to be their sworn enemies.

There is no way they are going to ban fighting them.

Also several judges – as you have read – were harshly criticised for breaking a wide range of Torah laws.

Which Torah laws?

Oh, yes, the one they made up???

Yet, rather unwisely, some of the brilliant and erudite gentile Bible critics claim the Judges indeed published ‘Old Testament – our history for 1000 Years – Read all about it’.

You know, I don’t believe it.

It says very plainly, ‘Do not touch the Moabites or the Ammonites.’

Read Deuteronomy 2:19.

We are forbidden from even distressing them.

An Overview of Some of The Judges

Further, perhaps more convincingly, many Judges very publicly acted in, shall we say, in an inappropriate way and came to regret it or suffer for it.

Samson had some – shall we say – embarrassing moments concerning his wife. Yes, we all remember Delilah.

Further he exhibited a lack of sensitivity for animal rights in beating up lions and foxes.

On top of that, completely anti-woke, he used the jaw bone of a donkey to do it!!

The Torah is very clear about not hurting animals. You actually have to feed your animals before yourself!!

My son is careful to ask his children to feed their canary and fish before they eat.

And look what Samson did to heritage architecture – that last Philistine temple he flattened.

Even the great Eli, the High Priest and judge, had sons who embarrassed him.

Samuel appoints Saul and then David – neither of whom is perfect.

Only a few judges were as great as Deborah. (Yes, of course, she was a woman.)

Idiocy of The Claim That The Judges Wrote The Torah

No sane judge of the Judges Era is going to condemn himself by writing this all in, if there had been an alternative. And it was not just some slight oversight. This was the central text of the nation!

It was pored over and quoted thousands of times every day. How could the judges written the Torah – it completely condemned many of them?

Obviously, it could never have been altered or invented.

It could not have been written later because all the laws they broke were fixed and accepted.

They must have been stuck with that Text and its strictures which many of them did not live up to because – that’s right – the original Five Books were known to every child.

Thus in writing later events – they, or those recording your history, could only be scrupulously honest about the laws broken by their own misdemeanors.

Why did they not simply amend the laws they broke?

Addressing Counterarguments

‘Ah ha,’ you will say, ‘Someone with an agenda put it in afterwards.

It was added after the Judges had done their bit of Moabite and Ammonite bashing.’

No, it could not have been written later – we dismissed that idea earlier with the kings.

Everything – the name places, references to foreign history, synchronization of events, masses of unnecessary detail – points to a Text originating when we claim and including all the laws we claim and then being faithfully updated generation by generation.

‘Well, it just happened.

It must have.

The Torah just cannot be that old or true.’

Ah, we’ve heard that one before – ‘It must have happened’.

Well, since we do not apply such mindless faith to support our religion, we are justified in rejecting supposition to disprove it.

The Samaritans’ Role

Let us take a break on our journey for a moment and consider again the Samaritans.

This is because they themselves claim to date from this period and verify by disputing our version all the details and the chronology..

They provide an absolutely parallel narrative to our own.

You may remember that they are today a minute remnant of less than 1000 people who descend from a group that rejected Joshua’s leadership some 3000 years ago.

They are not Jewish so they can be believed.

Their DNA proves their story.

The Jews’ Talmud also mentions them as ‘Kutim’ and there are many others scattered references.

But again, they are in the Talmud and so …

However, the Samaritans insist that they came into the Land with Joshua in 1270 BCE but split off about 300 years later at the end of the Judges era after an altercation with the rest of the Israelites.

Then they built their temple – the ‘real’ temple – at Gerizim in about 950 BCE.

The Samaritans Today

Today, as you know about 500 live in Gezirim and about 500 in the Tel Aviv area – ironically hosted and generously sponsored by the Zionist State – whose irreligious stature they actually challenge.

But the secular Jews can be very tolerant of other religions.

This increases their street-cred.

We have proven from archaeology that the deepest foundations of the site of the Gerizim Samaritan temple find dates only to circa 550 BCE.

This supports rather the Talmudic dating and the Assyrian Chronicle account.

Assyrians and The Very First Nakba

These state that the Samaritans were brought into Israel in 555 BCE when the Assyrians re-populated the North – now emptied of the Ten (Lost) Tribes – with foreign peoples.

However, admittedly, they could have worshipped in an earlier temporary building which left no traces – going back to 930 BCE.

They use their own book of Joshua to prove that they originate from the earlier era of Joshua.

This is similar to ours but, as opposed to their version of the Torah, it has many significant differences.

These support their narrative.

Significantly, they must have had our Book of Joshua on which to base this or – yes, yes – we must have had their Book of Joshua on which to base ours – both sides confirming that it is from this earliest period – 1270 BCE.

Remember, they have declared themselves as non-Jewish and therefore can be believed.

Now whether they were part of Israel and broke off or adopted the Torah adapted by them at that time, they prove it’s antiquity.

In either case, they had the Torah and Joshua in the correct Ivri script.

They claim both were from 750 years earlier, so we have non-Jewish enemies of the Jews insisting these texts existed about a millennium before the Wellhausen/Bible ‘experts’ nonsense.

It is obviously ignorant nonsense to suggest that the Torah was compiled 600 years later – it would contradict non-Jewish witnesses.

And indeed, they would not have made this claim as early as they did, if it went against the then current knowledge and public experience.

Everyone at that time must have known of them or they would have been ridiculed.

Samaritans Proving Our Torah

So the Samaritans prove that our ‘perverted version’ of the Torah existed 3000 years ago.

Their version remember is almost identical except for the bits which prove their narrative and it is written in the appropriate proto- Hebrew Ivri script – as we discuss in the Talmud – set down some 2000 years later.

All this proves the Torah and Joshua, even if forgeries, were scammed before the Judges period.

And who is before the Judges?

Joshua.

And who came before Joshua?

Moses.

You have just walked through 3278 years of your personal history to the foot of that same mountain again.

We are just fifty years after Sinai.

We are really back to the seminal years and the event itself.

The Revelation at Sinai

You just ran out of time.

The scam can only have been Sinai itself.

Sinai must have happened as an historic event.

Yes, yes.

It was done with mirrors, rabbits out of hats and magic mushroom soup.

But the show itself definitely took place.

It could not have been made up.

We have seen that as we walked back through the years.

You have seen that – as you walked through the years.

They just erased your memory.

Addressing Doubts About Sinai

It Cannot Be Right.

It Must Be A Scam.

Please Let It Be A Scam!

No, no.

There must a hidden gap of a couple of centuries when someone got in there and a bunch of crazy Jews picked up masses of taboos and ideas, formed a critical mass, went camping round some volcanic mountain, had mass hysteria and – there you are.

Clever- they were.

Genuine – no.

So, after all the evidence, it is still impossible for me to dispel the conviction that this real event was itself a mass hoax ‘or something’.

And, agreed, you have your personal experience syndrome to deal with.

That is that no one you know has personally experienced anything remotely like Sinai.

Therefore it cannot have happened.

Of course, because you know that no one alive has ever witnessed a supernatural event you must be right.

Right!??

Well, yes!

Uh, I think.

Therefore we can all be confident that we are dealing with a brilliant public conjuring trick which survived for millennia.

Who cares – that’s what happened.

Must have.

Returning to Probability and Faith

You are forgetting all we learnt in other parts of this site before we traced your walk through time.

Indeed, we embarked on our history tour in order to refute the suggestion of a hidden ‘gap’ in which, somehow, some unknown genius could foist Judaism on a group of idiots.

Before this, we found that probability proved unequivocally the impossibility of conjuring up Judaism’s narrative.

No one has ever even tried this.

Your existence as a Jew is impossible – unless Judaism is true. We worked through this.

We also carefully examined the traditional argument – Sinai – which is absolutely sound judicially.

In each generation every judge would have had to accept the evidence that the Jew’s father told him about his own father’s message to him.

It is certain that this message was passed down faithfully.

The unique accuracy of our traditions and texts is equally irrefutable.

Non-Jewish history, archaeology and other undisputed evidence proves that this and the way of life of these witnesses has continued unchanged for 3000 years.

Book Two deals with this in detail.

Your Resistance Is Our Proof

Your resistance to all this proves the power of faith.

The loyalty you have to your ‘freedom’ and your culture outweighs everything.

You are chained to your blind faith in secularism.

If we were discussing another subject you would be entirely in agreement.

It is your involvement and emotions that are behind your resistance.

‘It simply cannot be true.

That cannot be contemplated.’

But, perhaps ask yourself honestly, ‘Why not?’

If you are certain of your position then you cannot fear further scrutiny, surely?

My Book Two – Judaism on Trial – brings inevitable evidence.

Much of its material is available on this site.

Perhaps it would be safer not to read it?

Perhaps this judicial review should be adjourned indefinitely because of the truth it will uncover?

This is a very common governmental ploy.

Announce a judicial review into a public scandal.

Then as soon as it become stale news – adjourn the review.

New research is needed.

The panels’ Chairman’s great-Aunt Hermione is ill.

Any excuse will do.
